Easter

Good Friday is the day that Jesus was crucified. This means that he was nailed on a cross and was left to die. A few days after his burial he was believed to have risen from the dead. Christians called this day Easter.

Easter is the celebration of the death and the resurrection of Jesus, where Christians believe that he overcame the power of death so that people could have eternal life. It is the most important date on the Christian calendar.

According to gospel writers, on the first Easter Sunday morning, woman went to the tomb where Jesus had been buried. The woman carried spices in order to anoint Jesus' body. When they got to the tomb, they found the stone across the entrance had been rolled away, and the tomb was empty. Several people clamied to have seen Jesus and people were told that he had been raised from the dead.

The resurrection is important to Christians as they believe it proves Jesus really was the son of God, and has power over death. They also believe that it shows life after death.

Easter is not on always on the same date every year. It takes place the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox.

Easter is a symbolism of new life.
